Wellness Wednesday! Are you fueling growth or decay…?

What will choose to fuel today?
Over the next few Wednesdays I will be looking various ways that us human beings may grow, or decay, we are either going one way or the other – there is no static in-between! The theme will either be physical, mental or spiritual decay, and how you can change this to GROWTH!
Today, it’s physical decay. The food you eat is the ultimate fuel for your body. What are you eating today? Sometimes, people will eat food that they know is bad for them, we are all human and sometimes that Friday night pizza is just what you are craving, but what about the other days of the week? Every meal time, every day, we make the choice of what we fuel our bodies with.
What if there was a transformational food which could prolong your life, keep you healthy and prevent chronic disease? A recent study found that less than 10% of people in the UK and less than 20% in Australia have enough fibre in their diets. This simple little staple does many more things for our bodies than just keeping us regular! Fibre feeds the good bacteria in our bodies, essential for our gut health and optimal body function. It can help reduce inflammation and irritation in common digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
You can add more fibre into your diet by swapping to GF wholegrains (to remove the inflammatory element), ensuring you get 5 portions of fruit & veg, keeping skin on potatoes, having oats, lentils, chickpeas and beans, but it can be tricky to be consistent in getting enough fibre every day, we all have busy lives and other priorities that take over sometimes! Fortunately, there is an easy option to help you with that. Get your fibre fix with 12g of fibre, nearly half the daily requirement, made from a GLUTEN FREE blend of inulin, pea, apples, citrus pectin, orange pulp, and beetroot fibre. This flavourless, soluble fibre can be added to all foods and beverages, including Chocolate or Vanilla Protein or Meal Replacement Shakes.
In short, dietary fibre has numerous health benefits and we are not getting enough of it. Not only is it fabulous for your gut bacteria, fermentable fibre also forms short-chain fatty acids, which nourish the colon wall.
